NSS investigating verbal assault by Ashanti Director at Manhyia Hospital
The management of the National Service Scheme has commenced investigations into the verbal assault incident by the Ashanti Regional Director of the NSS, Alex Poku Mensah on a nurse at the Manhyia District Court in Kumasi.
The NSS is setting up a committee to handle the investigations.
In the meantime, Poku Mensah has been summoned from Kumasi to the head office of the NSS in Accra as part of preliminary investigations into the incident.
The NSS in a press statement issued on Tuesday said it will update the public accordingly.
The NSS management said it regrets the incident and assured the public and the nursing fraternity of the dedication to resolve the issue.
On Tuesday, the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives' Association (GRNMA) called for the dismissal of Mr Poku Mensah for verbally abusing a nurse.
Mr Poku-Mensah has since apologised saying he "understands the disappointment, and appreciates the inconvenience his action has caused the general public, as well as the nursing fraternity and the Manhyia Hospital."
