One week observance of the passing of Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III today

Bogyawe at the Manhyia Palace is the centre of attraction today as thousands of mourners converge for the one-week observance of the passing of the 14th Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

Chiefs, religious leaders, and other dignitaries from all over are joining the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the day.

The final funeral arrangement of Nana Konadu Yiadom III is also expected to be announced at the event.

When Graphic Online visited the palace on Tuesday (August 19, 2025), almost all the people spotted were in black.

All funerals in Asanteman on August 21, 2025, have been postponed to pave the way for the one-week observance.

A food vendor, Akosua Frema Sarpong, in an interview, said she is ready to fully participate in the event to honour the memory of the late queenmother for her contributions to the growth of Asanteman.

She said, “I think she served well and did her best too for the Asanteman. I wish her a peaceful rest”.

Another resident, who doubles as a driver, Francis Kwaku Asamoah, stated that Asanteman has lost a great person, adding, “we will forever remember her for all that she did during her eight-year reign”.

The Asankaremanhemaa, Nana Abena Kyerewa I, in an interview, described the late queenmother as someone who was loving and compassionate towards everyone.

One thing that she always did, and the queenmothers cherished about Nana Yiadom III, was her occasional meetings with them to advise them on how they can serve their people well.
