Organized Labour issues Road Map for nationwide actions

Organised Labour on Thursday issued what it says is “phase one” of its road map leading to a serious of actions to culminate in strikes in the face of increases in tariffs, taxes and fuel prices.

They include nationwide demonstrations and picketing, as well as strikes should government fail to withdraw the new levies.

Below is the notice itemizing the series of activities planned by organized Labour.

 

The Organised Labour meeting held on Thursday, 7th January, 2016, agreed on the following roadmap for the intended Nationwide Action to press home the demands of Organized Labour in the face of increases in tariffs, taxes and fuel prices

  1. Thursday, 7th January, 2016 - notice to the police and other state bodies on intended nationwide actions.
  2. Thursday, 14th January, 2016 - Press Conference at roam at the CLOSSAG Hall.
  3. Tuesday 19th January, 2016 and Wednesday, 20th January, 2016 - Demonstration and picketing at the National and all Regional Capitals
  4. Thursday, 21st January, 2016 and Friday, 22nd January, 2016 - Nationwide strike begins
  5. Organised Labour to meet each evening after each activity to review activities and plan for the next day
  6. Red bands to be worn and displayed at workplaces from Thursday, 14th January, 2016
  7. Radio and TV discussions should be encouraged.
