Pakro ‘outdoors’ Ransford Tetteh Nkosuohene on Saturday - Akosua Asabea, Ankobeahemea

The chiefs and people of Pakro near Nsawam in the Eastern Region will on Saturday, February 3, 2018 “outdoor” two of their newly installed chiefs.

They are Nana Kwaku Dei I, known in private life as Mr Ransford Tetteh, Ag Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd as Nkosuohene and Nana Akosua Asabea, Ankobeahemea, an Accra based  businesswoman.

The occasion will be graced by the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye, traditional leaders and government officials.

ICT/library centre

The ceremony will also be used to raise funds to build an information and communication technology (ICT) and a library centre for the four basic schools in the town.

Nana Dei and Nana Asabea said the town decided to organise the event to raise funds for the ICT/Library project to bring the youth of the town abreast of information technology.

They expressed regret that although the pupils in the basic schools in the town were also examined in ICT, the schools lacked the facilities for the effective teaching and learning of computing.

Nana Dei said the town lacked many amenities, as a result, the traditional authorities led by the Pakrohene, Nana Mensah Kuma III, felt that the construction of the ICT/Library centre should be a priority.

Nsawam-Pakro road

He, however, appealed to government to rehabilitate the Nsawam-Pakro road to facilitate the movement of the people and food produced by the farmers in the area under the government’s Planting for Food and Job programme.

Nana Dei explained that the gradual urbanisation of the town, was also bringing in its wake, growing crime, especially among the youth and urged the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to bring back the police station that was closed down many years ago.
