He commended the private sector for its role in the provision of quality education in the country and pointed out that although it was the responsibility of the government to spearhead the development of education in the country, the complementary effort by the private sector would enhance access to quality education to benefit the citizens and the nation as well.

Presentation

This was contained in a speech read on his behalf by Mr Anthony Turkson, Project Coordinator of the Otumfuo Charity Foundation, when the foundation presented a cheque for GH¢50,000 to the Nana

Konadu Saviour International School at Bonwire in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti Region.

The donation followed a promise made by the Asantehene in November last year during the 10th anniversary and first Speech and Prize-giving Day of the school.

The money is for the completion of various projects currently going on in the school.

The school was named after the elder sister of the Asantehene and it trains students in kente weaving, a popular trade in the area.

Commendation
Otumfuo Osei Tutu commended Nana Ama Konadu for her selflessness and dedication to the development of education in the area.

The headmaster of the school, Mr Paul Agyekum, who received the cheque, was full of praise for the Asantehene and pledged to use the money judiciously to improve teaching and learning.

He appealed for support for the procurement of computers and logistics to promote teaching and learning in the area.
