Police arrest 3 bag snatchers

Three young men who deceived a woman that she has had a flat tyre and allegedly stole her handbag from her car at Pambross in Accra have been busted at Agbogbloshie.

They are Yaw Osei Boakye, Daniel Agyapong and Kofi Poku.

Police briefing

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mrs Effia Tenge, said the victim, whose name is being withheld for security reasons, reported to the Weija-lands Police Station that at about 7:30 p.m. on February 12, 2018, she was driving her Toyota Corolla from Kwashieman to Weija when a young man told her in traffic at Pambross that the back tyre of her vehicle was flat.

When she tried to check the tyre, two other young men picked her bag containing an ATM card, a driver’s licence, cash of GH¢170 and two mobile phones, a Samsung Galaxy and Infinix, from her car.

Arrests

The police went to the scene with the victim and they arrested a young man who was identified as the one who told the victim that she had a flat tyre. He gave his name as Kofi Poku.

A day after the incident, based on intelligence, the police  arrested Yaw Osei Boakye and Daniel Agyapong at Agbogbloshie.

When the two suspects were searched, the stolen items were found on them.
