Police arrest two in connection with violence at Tuobodom

The police have arrested two persons following the shooting incident at Tuobodom in the Brong Ahafo Region on Wednesday.

The incident resulted in the death of five persons while eight others were injured.

The Brong Ahafo Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent of Police, Alhaji Mahama Arhin, who briefed the Daily Graphic, however, refused to provide the names of those arrested and cited security reasons.

He said two houses had been set ablaze.

 Already, the police have impounded a motorcycle which was left behind by the culprits and would use its registration number to trace the owner at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).

On Wednesday, some assailants entered Tuobodom near Techiman and started shooting indiscriminately.

That resulted in the death of five persons whose bodies have been deposited at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital.

Eight other people who were injured included a pregnant woman and a physically challenged person.

Currently, 50 policemen and 30 military personnel have been deployed to maintain peace in the area.

No specific reason has been established for the incident although the town has been embroiled in a chieftaincy dispute for years.
