Akufo-Addo's address interrupted after his aide-de-camp collapsed in Parliament - VIDEO

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's last State of the Nation address in Parliament on Friday was interrupted when his aide-de-camp (ADC) collapsed.

The President’s bodyguard dropped to the floor in the middle of the address.

He was aided immediately by the Marshall of Parliament, the aide-de-camp of the Vice President and medical personnel on standby to get back on his feet.

They then helped him to walk out of the chamber for further medical assistance.

The aide-de-camp is a military or naval officer who serves as a confidential assistant and secretary to a high-ranking person.

The term "aide-de-camp" comes from the French phrase camp assistant.

President Akufo-Addo's aide-de-camp is a Brigadier General in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The incident briefly interrupted the President's address but he resumed his presentation after a few minutes, after the ADC had been aided to walk out of the chamber.

The aide-de-camp of the Vice President, a police officer immediately took over to stand behind the president.
