Prez Akufo-Addo swears in NLC board
A seven-member board of the National Labour Commission (NLC) was yesterday sworn into office by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, with a call on members to be impartial and neutral in the resolution of labour disputes that will be brought before them.
Chaired by Mr Andrew Kwabena Asamoah, the other members of the board are Mr Kwame Ofori-Gyau, Rose Karikari Anang, Francis Kofi Davoh, Fidelis Patrice Seddoh, John Kwame Effah Nkrabea-Darteh and James Attah Krufi Nuam.
Impartiality
Addressing the board members after they had been sworn in at the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo reminded them that their work would be judged by their impartiality and neutrality in the resolution of labour disputes.

He reiterated the vision of the government to grow the economy and develop the country.
Achieving that vision, he pointed out, was dependent on a peaceful labour front.
Charge
President Akufo-Addo, therefore, charged the board members to familiarise themselves with laws governing labour.
He underscored the importance of organised labour in any prosperous nation.
The government, he said, would ensure serenity at the labour front in order to create the atmosphere for rapid economic development.
Describing the role of organised labour as strategic to the economy, President Akufo-Addo said labour held the key to the future prosperity of the nation.

The President emphasised that it was in that regard that the government would make the necessary efforts to ensure a harmonious relationship with labour.
In his remarks, Mr Asamoah thanked the President for the confidence reposed in them and promised that members would live up to expectation.
