Prez Mahama eulogises Adjei-Mensah, Imoro Ayarna
President John Dramani Mahama has paid glowing tribute to the memory of two illustrious sons of the nation - Mr I.K. Adjei-Mensah and Alhaji Imoru Ayarna - who passed away this year.

Receiving separate delegations from the Brong Ahafo and Upper East regions at the Flagstaff House that informed him of the funeral arrangements of the two, the President said they would be celebrated for serving their nation well.
The mortal remains of Mr Adjei-Mensah would be buried at Techiman on August 22, while the final funeral rites of Alhaji Ayarna would be held at Bawku in the Upper East region the same day.
Adjei-Mensah
Mr Adjei-Mensah was a former Minister of the Brong Ahafo region and Minister for Works and Housing under the Rawlings regime.
He was also the Member of Parliament for the Techiman North Constituency for three terms, serving on the ticket of the NDC from 1992 until he stepped aside in 2004.
Before his death, he was the Board Chairman of the Bui Power Authority (BPA).
A former President of the Ghana Bar Association in Brong-Ahafo, he served on the consultative assembly that drew up the 1992 Constitution.
He left behind a widow and 10 children all females including Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, the current Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
He was an icon
President Mahama described Mr Adjei-Mensah as a political giant who served his party, the NDC and his country with distinction.
"He had a wonderful career as a lawyer, one of the prominent lawyers Brong Ahafo has produced," the President said.
Mr Mahama said it was during the tenure of Mr Adjei-Mensah as Minister of Works and Housing that the famous Keta Sea Defence Project was executed.
"It is one of the monumental projects that the government has undertaken and the late former minister will forever be remembered for it," he said.
"Even though we are sad to lose an icon like that we also celebrate a life well lived," he added.
The Omanhene of Techiman, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, led the delegation which also included the Brong Regional Minister, Mr Eric Opoku.
Imoro Ayarna

Alhaji Ayarna died at the age of 98 in his native Bawku.
The politician and businessman was a founding member of the Convention People's Party (CPP), which won independence for Ghana.
In 1969, he founded the People’s Action Party (PAP) following the lifting of the ban on party politics.
He contested the 1979 presidential election as an independent presidential candidate. The election was won by Dr Hilla Limann of the People's National Party (PNP).
During the General Acheampong military regime, Alhaji Ayarna was sentenced to death by firing squad in 1973 on a charge of treason, but the sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment.

The leader of the delegation was the paramount chief of Bawku, Naba Abugrago Azorka.
