Prudential Bank pledges support for GTEC's digitalisation efforts
Prudential Bank has declared support for the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) in its quest to digitalise processes, including the accreditation of tertiary institutions in Ghana.
This move, according to officials of the Bank, aligns with GTEC's recent launch of the Accreditation Management Information System (AMIS), which enables tertiary institutions to apply for accreditation with the Council around the clock.
The AMIS platform aims to reduce paperwork, enhance efficiency, and lower costs for universities, and this the Commission says, aligns with the government's national 24-hour economy agenda.
According to Director-General of the commission, Professor Ahmed Jinapor, this initiative will significantly improve tertiary education accreditation process.
Commenting on the initiative, the Executive Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking at Prudential Bank, Edward Commey, emphasized the Bank's commitment to supporting GTEC's digitization efforts.
"As a major partner to GTEC, we have the capacity and capabilities to support their journey to digitalize accreditation processes," he stated. "We will partner GTEC to ensure seamless processes in the digital space."
The Bank recently participated in the second edition of GTEC’s Summer School Programme held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) themed, "Building a Sustainable National Development Through Research: Strengthening Capacity Across Ghana’s Tertiary Education Institutions.”
The Bank showcased its digital offerings, including payments and collections solutions, which can facilitate GTEC's newly introduced online accreditation payment system (AMIS).
The Director General, Professor Jinapor, commenting said “the relationship has been excellent in terms of their promptness, customer relations and in terms of giving feedback on transactions and other processes. Overall, we are comfortable working with the Bank as a Commission.”
The Summer School brought together key stakeholders in tertiary education, policymakers, researchers, and academic leaders from across the country to deliberate on collective ways to develop the sector.
As a truly dependable partner, the Bank specifically pitched the benefits of the PBL Corporate Mastercard to participating tertiary institutions to seamlessly facilitate their digital payments, and especially to GTEC via their online payment platform developed by the Bank. As a Bank with great affinity to the educational sector, this partnership with GTEC is in for the long haul including the readiness to support research efforts towards building sustainable national development.
