The members on Saturday, June 7, and Saturday, June 14, this year engaged in road repair works from the Ajasco Junction to the Red Top area.

The recent twos days of downpours experienced in the capital had damaged the entire stretch of road from the Ajasco Junction right up to the Red Top area. The heavy rainfall rendered the road almost impassable, hence the decision of the members of the association to contribute voluntarily in kind and cash to repair the portions of the badly damaged road.

The spokesperson of the association, Mr Philip Nartey, described the road as a very important link from the Ajasco Junction through Red Top to the Shopright Shopping Mall at Dunkonar.

He disclosed that the association had petitioned the Ga South Assembly to come to the aid of residents by helping to reconstruct the road to make it motorable.

According to the spokesperson, members of the association are planning to hire a bulldozer and grader to work on that stretch of road after the rainy season is over.

He said, however, that members of the association could not achieve much working alone and as such needed the government’s intervention to make the road more usable.

Some association members also appealed to the Ghana Police Service to provide a police post at the Bortianor Clinic to help curb the incidence of robbery experienced in the area lately.

They urged the police to urgently consider their plight and save residents from robbers who sometimes used deadly weapons in their activities.

The residents maintained that Bortianor was a tourist haven which, when well protected, could be developed into a hugely attractive location that would rake in revenue and generate employment for the people.

Members of the association also called on the MP for Bortianor, Mr Bright Kumorddzi, to show more concern for the plight of the constituents.

In their view, the MP for Bortianor hardly gets involved in the affairs of the community and people who live there.

They expressed the hope that he would not only show up when it was time for national elections but would endeavour to make himself available to the people and help meet their social needs.
