Rotary Club supports Islam Training Institute
The Rotary Club of Accra East has donated items valued at GH¢6,000 to pupils of the Islam Training Institute at Kanda in Accra.
The items included 1,020 branded exercise books, library books, primary and junior high school (JHS) textbooks and eight boxes of Cowbell products.
Others are sanitary items, including liquid soap, towels, tissue, plastic hand basins and a waste bin which are to help improve hygiene and sanitation in the school.
The President of the club, Mr Bright Semanu Attah, who handed over the items, said they were a token from the club to the school to help improve on its environmental sanitation.
Focus areas
He said basic education and literacy was one of the focus areas of the club where it provided support towards improving the lives of the under-privileged.
Mr Attah named the other areas where the club focused as peace and conflict resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health and economic and community development.
Accordingly, he said, the Rotary Club of Accra East had, over the past 29 years, undertaken projects in various communities and made interventions to enhance education, water and sanitation, maternal and child health.
Appreciation
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Abubakar Salam, who received the items on behalf of the institute, thanked the Rotary Club of Accra East for the support and promised that the items would be used for the intended purpose.
He also thanked the Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro, EPP Bookshop, Witech Co. Limited, Promasidor Ghana Ltd and the Crown Apartmento Hotel, which supported the Rotary Club of Accra East to make the donation, and called on other organisations to emulate the example.
