The Electricity Company of Ghana has scheduled planned maintenance exercises in the Tema and Accra East Regions for Sunday, March 29, 2026, even as engineers in the Ashanti West Region continue to battle a fallen conductor that left several communities without power on Friday.

According to advisories issued by the power distributor, the coordinated planned works are aimed at enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the national grid. The outages will commence at different times across the affected areas, with durations varying depending on the scope of work to be carried out at each location.

In the Tema Region, a planned maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Suncity, Manya Jopanya, Shai Hills, Wildlife, and surrounding areas. The seven-hour outage will impact both residential and commercial zones across this corridor as technicians undertake essential infrastructure upgrades.

In the Accra East Region, a separate planned operation is scheduled from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, a five-hour window affecting Baatsona, Teshie Township, GREDA Estate, Teshie Nungua, industries along the Spintex Road, Agblezaa, Manet Estate, and surrounding areas. The maintenance is expected to address network challenges in this densely populated and commercially active stretch of the capital.

These scheduled interventions come as the ECG continues to manage the aftermath of an unplanned outage that struck the Ashanti West Region on Friday, March 27, 2026.

According to a statement issued by the company, the power interruption was caused by a fallen conductor at Ahiakaso, affecting Kodie, Ahenkro, Denase, Akom, Apagya, Aduman, Aduamoah, Nkwantakese, and surrounding areas. Engineers were immediately deployed to the site to rectify the fault and restore supply, though the company did not specify a timeline for full restoration.

In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by both the scheduled maintenance and the unplanned fault.

The company reassured the public that engineers are working diligently to resolve network issues while emphasising that the planned exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network across the regions.
