Sefwi Anhwiaso gets Sompahene
A Bibiani-based businessman and philanthropist, Daniel Korankye, has been enstooled as the Sompahene of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area for his immense contribution and personal social interventions in the development of the area.
A known dealer in building materials and an award-winning distributor of GHACEM Cement in the Western Region, Mr D.K. Korankye, the 42-year-old businessman, was sworn in by the Omanhene of the traditional area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II.
The ceremony, which could not even be stopped by a rainfall, was attended by bigwigs in the region and the old and the young in the traditional area amidst the display of rich Sefwi culture.

The Omanhene eulogised the young businessman for providing the people of Bibiani with a modern hospital, an ambulance for the government hospital, street lights and assisting educational institutions, including the Queens Senior High School.
The chief esplained that Mr Korankye’s elevation as Sompahene was not only premised on his philanthropic gestures which also included the renovation of the chief’s palace, but his humility, leadership example and his ‘deep love for the things of God’ which could serve as a model to the youth.
Nana Sompahene said his prime concern was to help improve the educational infrastructure in the area and to assist the youth to be educated as one of the key ways of poverty alleviation.
He has put in place measures to employ qualified youth in his business to reduce their migration to Accra and Kumasi, as well as other big cities to enhance development in Bibiani and the Sefwi Ahwiaso Traditional Area.
At least a quarter of the youth in the area have been employed by Nana Sompahene in many of his business outlets in the region.
The Omanhene challenged the youth to relive their childhood dreams and pursue them vigorously to give meaning to their lives.
He said Nana Sompahene’s achievements, though he started as a local plumber after many years of hustle in Accra, should inspire the youth to dream big.
