Two of them were to be put before the Offinso Circuit Court on  suspicion of murder and stealing.

The Offinso District Police Commander, Superintendent Michael Boateng, confirmed this to the Daily Graphic in an interview yesterday.

The “jail breakers”

He gave names of the six as Iddrisu Yahaya, aka K2; Kofi Agyare, aka Bongo; Kwame Frimpong, aka Rambo;  Pasoley Mahmound, Baba Evans and Akwasi Grumah.

He said apart from Akwasi Grumah who was standing trial for committing murder, the remaining five were all to be prosecuted for alleged stealing.

He said both Baba Evans and Akwasi Grumah had been brought from the Kumasi Central Prison to appear before the Offinso Circuit Court yesterday.

Superintendent Boateng described the ‘jail break’ as  "a big blow" to the district command.

He said his officers at the Abofour Police Station were collaborating with the District Command to investigate the matter.
