Societé Generalé supports rehabilitation of Ghana’s foreign missions
One of the leading banks in the country, Societe Generale Ghana (formerly SG-SSB), has signed a $50-million credit facility agreement with the government to finance the rehabilitation of the country’s foreign missions.
The agreement is meant to support the country’s efforts of improving the operations of its foreign missions to enable them to provide world-class services for Ghanaians abroad and other nationals.
In a statement, the bank stressed that the agreement would not only provide a facelift for the foreign missions but also strengthen the existing relationship between the country and the bank.
“It is Societe Generale Ghana’s desire to partner Ghana in the socio-economic development of the country and strengthen the already cordial business relations that have existed for many years among the Societe Generale Group, Societe Generale Ghana and the Government of Ghana,” it said.
Other partnerships
Apart from the agreement, the bank revealed that between 2009 and 2016, it dedicated $600 million to finance various projects undertaken by the government.
“Some of the projects Societe Generale has financed totally or as a participating bank in a syndication include the Aboadze Thermal Plant, fire engines for the Ministry of the Interior, steel bridges for the Ministry of Roads and Highways, an e-government project for the Ministry of Communications, two GRIDCo transmission projects, asphalting of Accra streets, the Kwame Nkrumah and the Kasoa interchanges and Ghana Cocoa Board cocoa syndication since 1997,” the statement said.
It added that the bank was poised to further support the development of the country owing to its stable political environment, improving economy and strong medium and long-term prospects.
