St Cyprian’s holds farewell service for Rev. Canon Sam

The St Cyprian’s Cathedral Church in Kumasi has held a farewell service for Rev. Canon Robert Kweku Sam, who retired after 27 years of service in the Anglican priesthood.

Born on March 3, 1943, Rev. Canon Sam was ordained into priesthood on July 5, 1987, and attended the Westhill College of Higher Education (University of Birmingham) from September 3, 1996 to July 31, 1997, obtaining a Diploma in Church Management with distinction.

Services rendered

Until his retirement, he was the Assistant Diocesan Secretary and Assistant Priest of St Cyprian’s Cathedral Church in Kumasi.

Rev. Canon Sam had also served in many other capacities in the Anglican Church over the years, including Diocesan Administrative Secretary of the Koforidua Diocese from March 1988 to December 2000.

He also served as the acting Archdeacon of Mampong Archdeaconry and Parish Priest of Mampong Parish from 2001 to 2004.

From 2004 to 2006, he was the priest in charge of All Soul’s Anglican Church at Tafo Pankrono in Kumasi.

Appreciation

In a farewell speech, Rev. Canon Sam thanked the leadership and all Anglican faithful who contributed in diverse ways to make his priesthood successful.

While invoking God’s blessings on his benefactors, he also asked them to continue to pray for him and his family so that they would live longer and continue in fellowship with them.
