The students donated GH¢3,000 covering the cost of medical treatment of the children who were admitted to the Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre of the hospital.

Ghana’s High Commissioner to Zimbabwe, Mr Sylvanus Tettey-Tamaklo, whose son is an active member of the association, also donated an undisclosed amount of money to support the treatment of patients at the centre.

Master Kwesi Okrah, a member of the association handed over the cheque for the amount and explained that members of the association were concerned about the plight of the patients who could not bear the cost of their treatment, hence the gesture.

A Deputy Director of Nursing Services at the centre, Mrs Ethel Lartey-Odoi, who received the cheque, thanked the students for the support.

She appealed to other public-spirited institutions and individuals to emulate the gesture.

The association also donated assorted food items, toiletries and other products to the New Life Orphanage at Nungua.

The 67 inmates of the home were feted and treated to music and other activities of interest.
