Presenting the items to the health centre, the President of the group, Mrs Pamela Ansah, said one of the main aims of the group was to take good care of the poor and needy in society.
“It is part of our aim to embark on visitations to prisons, the sick and the aged, as such SUWMA branches all over the world have been involved in similar gestures in their various communities,” she said.
The Deputy Director, Nursing Services of the Ga Central Municipality, Ms Adwoa Amankwaa-Andoh, in an interview with the Daily Graphic after the presentation, said the Ghana Health Service (GHS) was embarking on a nationwide campaign to educate the public on how best to handle teenage pregnancy among adolescents.
In that regard, health practitioners in the country had been equipped to educate the public on harmonising relationship between parents and their teenaged pregnant daughters, in view of the dire repercussions of unsafe abortions.
“We are rolling out an educational programme to educate both parents and their adolescent children on how best to handle teenage pregnancy,” she said.
