Tailor found dead in his room

Residents of Sunyani New Town in the Brong Ahafo Region woke up last Sunday morning to find the dead body of a 26-year-old tailor, Samuel Osae Boampong, in his room with multiple knife wounds inflicted on him by an unidentified assailant.
The alleged murderer, who was believed to be a male visitor friend from Kumasi, was said to have stabbed Boampong in the chest with a kitchen knife before using it to inflict multiple wounds all over the back of the deceased.

The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Christopher Tawiah, who briefed The Mirror on the incident, alleged that the police found a used condom lying beside the deceased in the room after they had received information and followed up.

He said on that fateful night, people in the vicinity overhead someone screaming for help but when they went round looking for the source of the noise, it died down and so they could not locate the exact direction and, therefore, retired to their various homes and rooms.

ASP Tawiah said when day broke and the deceased had not been seen for a long while, the people in the area suspected foul play and, consequently, reported the incident to the police, who then went into the room to ascertain what had gone wrong.

He said their findings revealed that Boampong had been murdered and the police had started investigations into the matter.

According to ASP Tawiah, the deceased’s mobile phone had been taken away by the suspect.

The body has been deposited at the Regional Hospital in Sunyani for post mortem.
