Tema Lube donates ambulance to Polyclinic
The Tema Lube Oil Company (TLOC) has donated an ambulance worth GH¢124,000 to the Tema Polyclinic.

The ambulance is equipped with a modern tracking system, oxygen cylinders and emergency response facilities. The company would service and maintain the ambulance for a period of 12 months.
The TLOC made the donation in response to an appeal by the hospital for logistical support.
According to the management of TLOC, the donation was part of its hospital retooling project which it conducts annually in line with the company's social corporate responsibility programme aimed at enhancing healthcare in public hospitals.
"Providing logistical support to public health institutions is a significant and public interest project that we aim to sustain ," said the Board Chairman of Tema Lube Oil Company, Mr Kow Abaka Quansah, at the presentation ceremony.
He said he was obliged to respond to the hospital’s need because it was a major primary healthcare provider for people in underprivileged communities in the Tema metropolis.
"Our focus is to spearhead a campaign of logistics and equipment support in the hope that it would lead to improvement in healthcare delivery particularly in public facilities in the Greater Accra Region," Mr Quansah added.
Tracking device
He said the tracking system installed in the ambulance was to ensure that the condition of patients during emergencies was adequately monitored while in transit.

"We believe the equipment would adequately help reduce cases of maternal and child mortality," Mr Quansah said.
Hospital management
The Medical Superintendent of the Tema Polyclinic, Dr William Darko, received the vehicle and he expressed his gratitude to the Tema Lube Oil Company for responding to the hospital’s call for assistance.
He said because the hospital lacked resources including vital medical equipment, at some point some patients including pregnant women lost their lives needlessly.
"Premature babies who are transferred from the clinic to more resourceful hospitals for emergency care, now and again, die because there were no proper equipment and logistical support,” Dr Darko said.
He said an ambulance was an essential component of healthcare delivery and as such its availability would enhance the hospital’s operations.
Dr Darko was hopeful that other corporate institutions in the metropolis would also assist the hospital.
