Toku Foundation constructs Computer lab for Kasapreko Model JHS
Toku Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation has inaugurated a computer lab for Kasapreko Model Junior High School in the Eastern Region.
The lab, which contained 10 computers was also provided with internet service to enable the students and teachers in their research.
Bridging the gap
The administrator of the foundation, Mr Frank Owusu-Ansah, said the move was part of their effort in ensuring that schools from deprived areas could equally get the same opportunities as those in the urban areas.

“There is a large disparity between schools in the rural areas and those in the cities, in the city, they could have access to several learning materials which are relevant in the learning process, but with those in the Villages, they are mostly deprived of such benefits and the student usually have to struggle their way through to achieve academic excellence,” he said.
Improve performance
Mr Owusu-Ansah expressed the hope that the lab would be used to achieve the purpose for which it was constructed, urging the school authorities to ensure proper maintenance of the computers.
“We will be coming around to inspect the lab," he said.
Appreciation
The Headteacher of the school, Mr Felix Kwadwo Hubster expressed his appreciation to the foundation, pointing out that absence of ICT lab in the school had affected the academic performance of the pupils in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E)
“Teacher who teacher the subject previously had to teach without computers and with that, it was very difficult for the student to understand the subject. ICT is a very complicated subject and theory alone cannot help the students; they need practicals,” he said.
