Toyota hands over refurbished OPD to Adabraka Polyclinic
Toyota Ghana Company Limited has handed over a refurbished Outpatient Department (OPD) to the Adabraka Polyclinic.

The GH¢16,079 refurbished OPD, which also serves as the nurses’ station, is expected to boost healthcare delivery and provide patients with the required privacy.
At the handover ceremony, the Head of the Adabraka Polyclinic, Dr Ebenezer Oduro-Mensah, said the hospital made a request to Toyota Ghana for assistance to refurbish the OPD.
According to him, quality healthcare delivery was a priority to the hospital, hence the need for a conducive environment to facilitate that.
Challenges
Prior to the refurbishment, he said, the OPD was in a bad state, hence patients and staff complained about the heat and health risk at the OPD.
Dr Oduro-Mensah also appealed to the company as well as other corporate organisations to support with the completion of the phase two of the OPD.
Touching on some challenges the polyclinic faced currently, he said the clinic had neither an ambulance nor a multi-purpose vehicle which could be used to transport patients to hospitals during emergency.
The clinic, he said, relied on personal vehicles and public transport for official assignments as well as referral of emergency cases, and therefore appealed to organisations for support.

Toyota’s support
The Managing Director of Toyota Ghana Company Limited, Mr Tetsuya Suematsu, remarked that the company decided to support the hospital after it had received its request.
He said Toyota was a company with priority in education, environment and health and had contributed in those areas over the past few years.
Mr Suematsu said the company had a lot of proposals but decided to support the Adabraka Polyclinic in order to provide a comfortable waiting area for over 200 patients who visited the Polyclinic daily, adding: “Health is wealth, hence a healthy community is a productive community.”
