Transport fares rise by 10% on Monday
The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has announced that there will be a 10 per cent increase in transport fares effective Monday, September 16, 2019.
The GPRTU in a press release said the development is to accommodate an increase in fuel prices and is in line with the Administrative Instrument on public transport fares.
The fares which affect all commercial transport services cover road transport operations including; Intra-city (Trotro), Intercity (Long distance) and shared taxis.

The release also advised members of the GPRTU and the general public to comply with the new fares to avoid confrontations.
"Members are kindly requested to comply with the new fares and post the fare list at the load terminals so as to avoid any confrontation with travelling public," the release said.
"We further request Members, Commuters and the General Public to kindly co-operate for successful implementation of the new fares".
