Two children trapped in vehicle buried
There was shedding of uncontrollable tears and wailing at Meduma near Mamponteng in the Kwabre East District in the Ashanti Region yesterday during the burial of two siblings who were trapped in a stationary car last Sunday.

The grieving parents of the deceased, Maame Dufie Amoah, 5, and Mena Nyantekyiwa, 2, could still not come to terms with the tragedy as the pregnant mother, Ellen Akyaa Amoah, literally sprawled on the floor.
The planned low-profile burial ceremony turned out to be a massive convocation of sympathisers as the main street of the town was awash with people.
Green light
The Mamponteng District Police Command gave the Ankaase Methodist Hospital in the Afigya Kwabre District the green light last Tuesday, to release the bodies of the two siblings, who suffocated and died in the stationary vehicle, for burial.
Details of the physical examination and autopsy have not been made public.
Charge
The Mamponteng District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police, Mr Julius Kpeberson, said the statements of the parents had been taken but no charge had been preferred against them, since investigations had just begun.
The father, Mr Alex Amoah, a travel and tour operator, and his pregnant wife, Ellen, a JHS teacher at Adahumase, were still in shock as people flooded their residence at Meduma to mourn with them.
The police commander told Daily Graphic that the police were being cautious because the mother of the deceased was close to being delivered of a baby.

“That notwithstanding, the police will not hide anything from the public. Once investigation is over, we will let you know,” he said.
Facts
The two siblings were trapped for more than five hours in a stationary Ford Escape vehicle belonging to their uncle, one Egyaa Daakye, based in the USA.
The children sneaked out of the room where they were relaxing with their mother to play and entered the vehicle, which had been parked for more than six months.
The mother, who claimed she did not know that the car was unlocked, found the children in it after searching for them for some time.
Her screams attracted many neighbours who reported the case to the police and the bodies were later removed and deposited at the Ankaase Methodist Hospital morgue.
