Two drug peddlers jailed two years
An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced two people to two years’ imprisonment with hard labour for possessing Indian hemp.

Farouk Abubakari Sadiq, alias Alex, 22, and Sumail Yusif, alias Blackee 30, were arrested with the narcotic drugs at Kasoa in the Central Accra Region on December 30, 2013.
They were charged with possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority and they pleaded guilty to the charge.
An accomplice, Samuel Bortey, a 27-year-old driver’s mate, who was also arrested together with Sadiq and Yusif, pleaded not guilty and has been granted bail.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) C. K. Abadamlora told the court, presided over by Mr Francis Oduro, that Sadiq, Yusif and Bortey were residents of Mallam CP, Kasoa and Amanfro, respectively.
He said on December 30, 2013, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, with assistance from the Narcotic Unit of the Ghana Police Service, went to Kasoa based on an intelligence report that a 16-year-old girl had been kidnapped and was being kept in a house in the area.
According to the prosecutor, the police conducted a thorough search in the rooms of two houses, where Sadiq, Yusif and Bortey were caught red-handed with an aluminium bowl containing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
ASP Abadamlora said the police arrested them and when they were interrogated, they claimed ownership of the stuff and mentioned one Manama as the one who supplied them with the stuff.
