The conferment ceremony is set to take place on Thursday, September 5, at the New Examination Centre at UCC.

In a statement released by the University, the event is described as a significant occasion that will bring together distinguished personalities from various sectors to celebrate Otumfuo’s exceptional achievements.

UCC expressed its privilege in honouring the Asantehene, whose invaluable contributions serve as an inspiration for future generations to strive for excellence in their respective fields.

UCC praised the Asantehene’s unwavering commitment to fostering unity, education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship, noting that his efforts have positively impacted numerous lives.

The Honorary Doctorate Degree is seen as a testament to Otumfuo’s distinguished service to the nation, particularly his dedication to promoting unity and progress within the Ashanti region and beyond.

The university also commended Otumfuo for embodying love, peace, and democracy, citing his successful efforts in persuading leaders of various political parties to commit to ensuring peace during Ghana’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections since 2012.

Additionally, the Asantehene played a crucial role in the Mediation Committee that effectively resolved the Dagbon chieftaincy conflict. His calm demeanor and adeptness in resolving challenging disputes have contributed to the resolution of over 500 land and chieftaincy conflicts nationwide.

In a display of mutual respect and cultural significance, the Asantehene has accepted an invitation to attend the Oguaa Fetu Afahye festival in September 2024.

This visit holds historical importance, as it is rare for the Asantehene to participate in festivals outside the Ashanti Kingdom.
