The Ghana Water Limited in a statement on Friday said the Barekese Water Treatment Plant and the Achiase Booster were shut down to facilitate repairs after a 36" (900mm) transmission line was perforated by equipment from a contractor constructing drains from the Suame roundabout to Breman Ahenful.

The affected areas included Suame, Tafo/Pankrono, Asokwa, Bantama, Sokoban, Kronum, Barekese, Manhyia, Oforikrom, Kwadaso, Atasamanso, Kotwi, Adum, KNUST, Odoum, Asokore Mampong, and surrounding areas.

In a telephone interview with Graphic Online today (July 14), Ebenezer Padi Narh, Public Relations and Communications Officer for the Ashanti Region of Ghana Water Limited, stated that the repairs were completed yesterday (July 13, 2024) at 11 p.m.

He mentioned that, according to his latest brief, water supply to the entire Kumasi metropolis would be restored in phases throughout the day.
