UKGCC supports Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation with GH₵100K
The UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC), a member-based trade association that promotes trade between the UK and Ghana, has donated GH₵100,000 to support the initiatives of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation.

In June this year, the UKGCC held its maiden “Hat and Flower” charity event in Accra aimed at raising funds to support the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, which seeks to improve the lives of Ghanaians by implementing the ideals, values and visions of its patron, the Asantehene.
The event was aimed at raising a total of GH₵100,000 towards the realization of some of the objectives of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation
Subsequently, proceeds from the event has been donated to the Foundation to support their initiatives, particularly the ongoing refurbishment of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the Otumfuo Education Fund.

The donation was received by the Board Chairman of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, Nana Professor Oheneba Boachie Adjei-Woahene during the celebration of the Akwasidae, an Ashanti festival held at the Manhyia Palace on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
As tradition demands, the delegation also presented cash and drinks as gifts to the Asantehene and his entourage.
The UKGCC delegation comprised Executive Council Vice Chairman, John Addo Kuffuour, Executive Director, Adjoba Kyiamah, Executive Council Member, Alice Asafu-Adjaye, Membership Development and Events Manager, Pearl Stan-Deh and Communications Manager, Joscelyne Ahiable.
Presenting the items,John Addo Kufour mentioned that “the UKGCC, as part of its corporate social responsibility and in partnership with the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, had held a Hat and Flower Show to celebrate Ghana’s vibrant culture through floral design and millinery craftsmanship, with primary focus on Ashanti culture.
“Our presence at the Manhyia Palace on the auspicious occasion of the Akwasidae seeks not only to facilitate the presentation of the donated funds, but also to present ourselves to the Otumfuo as a leading Chamber of Commerce in Ghana, this being the first time that the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce has visited the Manhyia Palace,” he said.
The Executive Director of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, Nana Afua Kobi Prempeh expressed the Foundation’s excitement to partner the UKGCC to raise much needed funds to undertake some of its core development initiatives in furtherance of the Asantehene’s vision of improving the quality of life of Asanteman and Ghana at large.
“Over the years, the Asantehene His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has implemented this vision through his Foundation partnering with like-minded organisations to enhance access to good quality education, real entrepreneurship and employment opportunities and sustainable health infrastructure,” she said.
The UKGCC raised the funds through CHANGO, IT Consortium’s crowdfunding and group contributions platform and received direct donations from member companies, including G4S Security, Vivo Energy Ghana, B5 Plus Group, Contracta Construction Ghana LTD., Golden Exotics LTD., Fidelity Bank Ghana PLC, Consolidated Bank Ghana LTD. and Neon Acres LTD.
The Hat and Flower Show was also sponsored by Labadi Beach Hotel, Turkish Airlines, IT Consortium, Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC and Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC.
The UKGCC, established in 2016, provides exceptional support for its members through the sharing of knowledge and ideas, creating platforms for building stronger networks and providing linkages with Government and its agencies. One of its key foci is to see Ghana become a significant economic partner for the UK as an export market, import source, investment destination and vice versa.
