The gesture was in response to a request made by the chief of the town for support towards the construction of a community centre in the town using self-help initiatives.

Presentation

At a presentation ceremony at Bedum, Mr Kofi Ofori of the Office of the Vice President said the donation was to facilitate the speedy completion of the building project to enable the people to have a suitable place to hold social gatherings.

He noted that the request, which was made to the Vice President about two months ago, received urgent attention bearing in mind that the district assemblies alone could not fund development projects in their various areas.

Mr Ofori assured the people that more support would be forthcoming to assist in developing the area.
