Vivo Energy supports Otumfuo Teachers Awards

Vivo Energy Ghana (VEGH), marketers and distributors of Shell branded products and services, has offered 10 brand new laptop computers to the Otumfuo Charity Foundation to support this year's Otumfuo Teachers Awards.

The event, to be hosted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace, is to recognise teachers nationwide for their dedication to service.

The Managing Director of VEGH, Mr Ben Hassan Ouattara, made the donation towards the awards ceremony when he led management and retailers of the company to pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene over the weekend.

Mr Ouattara said the gesture formed part of the company's corporate social responsibility towards the people it served.

"As an energy company, we make our customers' lives easier and their experience with us more convenient, delightful, and rewarding by providing high-quality products and services that meet their needs, while maintaining high standards of safety, innovation and service in operation," he stated.

He said for over 90 years in Ghana, the Shell brand had always led the industry with innovative products to satisfy the evolving needs of customers, confirming its fuel technology expertise.

"This year, the company reaffirmed its industry leadership by launching its latest and most advanced fuels, made with the Dynaflex technology to help clean and protect engines," he said.

That notwithstanding, he pledged the company's support to impact the lives in Ghana, particularly in its operational areas to promote road safety, education and the environment.

Members of the group, which included the Communications Manager of Vivo Energy, Ms Shirley Tony Kum, also used the opportunity to celebrate the Asantehene on his 71st birthday.

Commendation

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II commended Vivo Energy for supporting this year's awards and also hailed the company for the numerous job opportunities it had created for  Asanteman.

He commended the company for its Retailer Sustainability Programme, which complemented the government's efforts to combat the COVID-19 during its peak.

The Asantehene indicated that the award scheme was targeted at building the capacity of selfless teachers, most especially those in the rural areas with limited resources.

That, he said, served as motivation and appreciation for all teachers to continue the good work and help transform the educational system in the country.
