The scholars are mentored and developed through the PK Amoabeng Leadership Foundation, which aims to transform the mindset of Africans, beginning at the grassroots level.

Explaining the motivation for this initiative on Facebook on Friday [August 30, 2024] Mr. Amoabeng recounted a story his late father shared with him, which his grandfather had conveyed on his deathbed.

"My grandfather said to my father, “Ampofo, I am going to die, and I know that someday you will join me. When you meet me on the other side, I will need an update on whether the Black man has been capable of managing his own affairs.”

According to him, "My father relayed this to me, saying, “Kofi, this is what your grandfather told me. I don’t know when I will be going, but if it happens soon, I will tell your grandfather that indeed the Black man has not been capable of managing his own affairs. Even though I don’t see the signs of change, I hope things will improve in your generation.”

Mr Amoabeng, "This statement from my father has been on my mind for years. I pondered what I could do to ensure that when I die, I won’t have to tell my father that the situation remains unchanged and that the Black man still struggles to manage his own affairs. This reflection led us to develop the PK Amoabeng Scholars Program, a beacon of hope for Africa. I want to tell my father that I left behind a legacy of nurturing the next generation of African leaders with the right mindset and values through the PK Amoabeng Leadership Foundation, aiming to change the narrative in Ghana and Africa at large."
