Ziope-Agortime to get CHPS compound
A Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound to cater for the health needs of the people of Hongu 1, in the Ziope-Agortime Traditional Area in the Volta Region, has been inaugurated. The project is the initiative of the Ideal Groupe Company Limited.

The people have had to resort to traditional medicine to address their health conditions.
The CHPS compound will serve 14 other communities and will have the capacity of treating illnesses such as malaria and also work to reduce cases of maternal mortality in the area.
The Ziope-Agortime area faces a number of health challenges and their condition is made worse by having to walk long distances to seek medical care in other communities.
Speaking at the ceremony to start construction works on the project, the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ideal Groupe, Dr Nii Kotei Dzani, expressed worry over the lack of essential amenities such as health posts and schools in the community and bemoaned the situation where children of school age had to wait till they attained six years before going to school.
He said when children did not receive kindergarten and nursery education, it made them very incapable of competing with children in schools in urban areas.
"Why should these children be denied their right to basic education and healthcare in an era like the 21st century?" he queried.
Dr Kotei Dzani assured the people that the Ideal Groupe was going to work to ensure that healthcare and education were accorded the necessary attention and as such they would go the extra length to support the community and others that lacked basic livelihood facilities.
He, therefore, urged parents to support their wards and make sure that they received the requisite education that would help them contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation.
"As a company, we are prepared to give back to society and help to bring relief, especially to the underprivileged in society," he said.
The CEO of the Ideal Groupe urged the chiefs and people of the Ziope-Agortime area to work hand in hand with the company in oder to bring development to the people.
"Basic health issues, particularly, have become important in recent years and so it is necessary that you embrace efforts such as this that come your way,” he said.
As part of activities to mark the birthday of the Ideal Groupe CEO, which coincided with the occasion, the company presented the community with bales of used clothing.
