The facility is expected to relieve expectant mothers of the challenges they face during delivery and also provide a congenial working environment for both patients and workers of the hospital.

The new block has more space, with modern equipment to ensure safe delivery.

Responsibility

Tullow Oil Ghana, the lead operator of the Jubilee Partners, decided to fund the reconstruction of the maternity block as part of its corporate social responsibility.

After the completion of the initial building, a team from Tullow, the management of the hospital and officials of the Town and Country Planning Department detected some defects on the structure which made it unsafe for use.

They recommended that the facility be pulled down for reconstruction.

Owing to its commitment to safety and the health of the people, and how strategic the facility would be to healthcare delivery, the management of Tullow offered to undertake the reconstruction project.

Equipment

Since its establishment in 1964, the hospital has not seen any major expansion works, while the population in its catchment area has increased over the years, thereby putting pressure on services at the hospital.
