Twenty-one stalwarts of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) have filed nominations to contest for the various positions at the party's September 18 and 19 National Delegates Congress in Sunyani.

They are Prince Roland Vincent Ahiadzro, Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim Haruna, Ramson Dabihazaaya Yinbil, Alhaji Amadu Tijani Abdul Rahmani, Mr Seth Otibu Mpare, Ms Susan Adu-Amankwah and Mr Kwamena Benyarko.

Mr James Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr, Mr Michael Kosi Levi Dedey and Nii Armah Akomfrah are contesting for the General Secretary slot.

Aisha Sulley Futa and Harriet Anita Abaidoo are contesting for the National Women’s Organiser position, while James Tetteh Ehiaway, Akwasi Bosompem Boateng and Ernesto Yeboah are vying for the National Youth Organiser slot.

The Ghana News Agency information within the party indicates that the party will vet the contestants on September 14 and 15.

Relatedly, Seth J. Bokpe reports from Accra that three Nkrumaist groups have endorsed the candidature of Mr Ernesto Yeboah for the position of National Youth Organiser of the party.

According to the groups — the Nkrumaist Circle, the Panio-Pan-African Improvement Organisation and the Nkrumah Students Union—Mr Yeboah is vibrant and in tune with the party’s ideology.

“He has the party and Ghana at heart; therefore he should be given the nod to serve as the party’s national youth organiser,” the Chairman of the Nkrumaist Circle, Mr Yusif Gariba, said at a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra.
