Akufo-Addo is Messiah for Zongos - NPP Nasara Coordinator
The Nasara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Aziz Harunah Futah has commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the approval of funds to develop Zongo communities in Ghana.
President Akufo-Addo addressing Muslims on Wednesday during the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr in Accra announced that approval had been given for spending from the Zongo Development Fund, as captured in the 2019 Budget.
The president said the expenditure is to be in the area of the provision of water systems, the rehabilitation of school blocks, the building of new school structures, the provision of desks for Islamic schools and the rehabilitation of tertiary drains in Zongo communities.

He also explained that the establishment of the Inner Cities and Zongo Development Ministry was aimed at making the inner cities and Zongos a central part of the national development agenda and avoid the situation where they were the exclusive zones for breeding despair and hopelessness.
The President expressed the hope that the intervention would resolve some of the many challenges that confronted the communities and gave an assurance that work would commence soon, adding that those lofty development projects would be realised only when there was peace.
Describing President Akufo-Addo as a "Messiah of Zongos", Aziz Futah said Akufo-Addo must be praised for his efforts to develop Zongo communities.
“This is unprecedented, it has never happened in the history of Zongos and I think the president deserves commendation. I don’t think it will be out of place to refer to the President as the Messiah of Zongos," Aziz Futah said in an interview.
“Do you know why? The judicious use of the funds will go a long way to transform lives in our Zongos, I am a Zongo boy and I know what am talking about. Certainly, there would be the construction of social amenities, and trust me this construction will not only beautify the areas but will help shape the psyche of children and the elderly alike.
“My advice to my Muslim folks is that let’s support this initiative as we strive to make our Zongos better. The construction of the facilities will require the need of human resource, which I believe the various contractors will employ the youth in the areas thereby providing employment for them.”
