Ambassador Edward Boateng leads NPP campaign in Akwatia for Solomon Asumadu
Ambassador Edward Boateng on Tuesday led a high-powered New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegation to Akwatia to campaign for the party’s parliamentary candidate, Mr Solomon Asumadu, ahead of the December elections.
The delegation included the NPP General Secretary, Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, former Minister of Transport, Mr Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, and former running mate and Minister of Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, as well as senior party officials and regional executives.
The visit began with a solemn moment, as the team paid respects to the late Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Mr Ernest Kumi, whose death was described as a significant loss to both the constituency and the NPP.
“Hon. Ernest Kumi served Akwatia with dedication and purpose,” Ambassador Boateng said. “It is now our responsibility to honour his legacy by continuing the work he started and ensuring that Akwatia does not lose momentum on its path to development.”
The campaign tour saw the team walk through the Akwatia market, where they interacted with traders and residents in what party officials described as a strong display of grassroots mobilisation. The warm reception, they noted, was a reflection of growing confidence in Mr Asumadu and the NPP’s vision.
The delegation also visited St Dominic Hospital to engage healthcare workers and management. Party leaders commended the staff for their commitment to service and reaffirmed the NPP’s pledge to invest in quality healthcare in Akwatia and across the country.
Addressing supporters, Mr Asumadu emphasised his personal connection to the constituency, stressing that his background made him well placed to represent the people.
“Akwatia is my home. I was born and raised here, and I have lived my entire life among the hardworking people of this constituency. I understand our challenges because I have lived them too. My commitment is to serve with honesty, humility, and results. Together, we will build a stronger Akwatia,” he said.
Ambassador Boateng described the candidate as a fresh, capable, and compassionate leader who was ready to carry forward the work of Mr Kumi and drive further development.
With recent polls indicating that the NPP holds a clear lead in Akwatia, party leaders expressed confidence in a decisive victory in December. The day concluded with community engagements designed to strengthen the party’s base and reinforce its commitment to the people.
