Andah to empower youth for rapid development

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) 2016 parliamentary candidate for the Awutu-Senya West Constituency, Neenyi George Andah, has underscored the need to empower the youth and mobilise the people for rapid development of the country.

In line with this, he has called on the electorate in his constiuency to vote massively for him and the party’s flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, to change the fortunes of the country for the benefit of all.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Neenyi Andah said the Kasoa interchange, when constructed, would open up the area for more socio-economic activities and improve the lives of the people but added that “we need to mobilse the youth in particular for high productivity.”

He described the Awutu-Senya West Constituency as an area with high potential in tourism, fishing, agriculture and education but highly impoverished.

He, however, said the proximity of the area to Kasoa, Winneba and the national capital gave it a boost for development and advised the people to unite and support his candidature.

He said what was needed most was the mobilisation of the youth, saying that formed the basis of his campaign message.

According to him, the aspirations of the people fitted into the NPP’s motto of ‘Development in Freedom’ and stressed the need to empower the people to do more for themselves and future generations.

Neenyi Andah said he enjoyed the support of those who had contested him in the parliamentary primary, and also the assembly and that all he needed was to provide the dynamic leadership that would leverage the infrastructural development of the area.

He expressed the hope that despite the advantages enjoyed by the incumbent NDC parliamentarian, Ms Hannah Tetteh, he would rely on the goodwill of the people to wrest the seat from the NDC.

He stated that with vigilance and hard work, he was hopeful of winning the seat for the NPP to turn around the fortunes of the people.

Hottest seat

The Awutu-Senya West seat is one of the hottest seats in the Central Region, having been contested by some prominent politicians in the area since the ushering in of the Fourth Republic.

Before it became the Awutu Senya West Constituency in 2012, the constituency and the Awutu Senya East were together as the Awutu Senya Constituency with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) dominating the area seat.

The only success of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) before the division of the constituency was in 2004 when Oppey Abbey took the seat from the NDC.
