APC outlines road map for 2016 election

The All People’s Congress (APC) has outlined a series of programmes and activities to help the party prosecute its agenda of winning power at the December 7 polls.

The first on the agenda is the national launch of the party’s campaign and unveiling of its running mate slated for  Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region from Friday, September 23, to Saturday, September 24, 2016.

Party manifesto

The party’s manifesto will be launched in Tamale in the Northern Region on Thursday, September 29, on the theme: “All inclusive governance, the only way to Ghana’s economic prosperity.”

This was announced by the General Secretary of APC, Mr Razak Kojo Opoku, at a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra yesterday.

He said the party held a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting last week and agreed to implement the road map, which is a demonstration  that APC has come of age, even though the party had its certificate to operate as a political party this year.

Running mate

Mr Opoku said the flag bearer and his running mate would hit the ground running immediately after the campaign launch with a “Come on board tour” which would be kick-started in the Upper East Region from September  25 to  September 28, 2016.

He said the Northern Regional ‘Come on board tour’ would begin on September 30 and end on October 3, 2016.

Mr Opoku added that the Upper West Regional Tour would start  from October 4 through to October 7 and those tours were all designed for the APC to make a great impact, especially in the Upper East Region which is regarded as a stronghold of the party.

Mr Opoku stressed that the Upper East Region, a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), would be toppled as “APC takes over the region from NDC.”

 Brong Ahafo Region

The general secretary said the ‘Come on board tour’ would move from the northern sector to the Brong Ahafo Region from October 8  to  October 11 for the southern sector segment of activities to roll out.

He stated that after the Brong Ahafo tour, where the party is expected to concentrate on migrant workers and settler farmers, the team would move to the Ashanti Region from October 12  to October 17; Eastern Region from October 18 to October  21; Volta Region from October 22 to October 24; Central Region from October 25 to October 27, while the Western Regional tour would begin on October 28 to October 31 to bring the first phase of the ‘Come on board tour’ to a close.

He said the second phase of the tour would begin in November in the Central Region and end in  the Upper East Region on November 25, 2016.

Mr Opoku said four mega rallies would be organised in the Western, Greater Accra,  Ashanti and Upper East regions from November 28 to December 4 to climax the 2016 campaign of the APC.
