Cape Coast North NPP candidate calls on security agencies to curtail vandalism of billboards

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Cape Coast North in the Central Region, Ekow Ewusi has called on the security agencies ensure the protection of all candidates' rights to freely promote their platforms for the upcoming 2024 general election.

This comes after banners and billboards worth thousands of cedis carrying his messages and campaign promises for the people of Cape Coast North were vandalised and destroyed.

The destroyed billboards and banners were erected at strategic locations including PPAG Stadium, Nurses Flat, Academy Road, Pedu Junction, and Esuekyir to capture the hearts and minds of the electorate.

Addressing a cross section of journalists in Cape Coast, Mr Ewusi, who considers the vandalism as an attempt to intimidate and undermine his campaign and hurt his chances of winning, has expressed suspicion that his opponents were behind the destruction, suggesting a ploy to tarnish his image.

Some members of the NPP have also pointed fingers at suspected foul play instigated by members of the opposition.

They were of the view that it had become increasingly clear that Ekow Ewusi had a greater chance to win the election by a landslide and hence the action by the culprits.

“Instead of focusing on how to run their campaign, they try to attack me during my events. They always want to provoke me to create the impression that I'm violent. I'm not. We hope the security agencies will take this issue up to prevent it from escalating,” he stated.
