Explaining why Mr Samuel Sarpong had been invited to join the regional committee, the Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr Benjamin Allotey Jacobs, said Mr Sarpong proved to be a political stalwart when he was the Central Regional Minister.

He said Mr Sarpong had used his experience in politics to bring together all members of the NDC in the region to forge ahead in unity.

Mr Sarpong, in response to the invitation, said he was both surprised and happy when he got the message to be part of the strategic committee in the Central Region.

He said although he was sad about recent developments in the Ashanti Region, which led to his removal from office as regional minister, he was happy that his work was being remembered and appreciated in the Central Region, noting that he had “felt at home” in the region.

He advised members of the various committees in the Central Region to work together to ensure victory for the NDC in 2016.

Mr Allotey Jacobs stated that considering the $320-million infrastructural development the Mahama government had embarked on in the Central Region, the NDC would win massively in the region.

The Central Regional Minister, Mr Aquinas Quansah, called for unity of purpose to win the 2016 elections.

He urged all to fight division and focus on getting the NDC retained in power.

A Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Mr George Lawson, said it was time to work.
