Cpp elects leaders for Northern Region

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has organised a Regional Conference at the Tamale Sports Stadium in the Northern Region to elect a regional executive to steer the affairs of the party in the region.

Those elected are the Chairman, Alhaji Abdulai Issah Zorro; 1st Vice Chairman, Alidu Egalah; 2nd Vice Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Mankana; Treasurer, Sabratu Mahama; and Secretary, Mohamed Bia Nuhu Jingli.

Others are: Education Secretary, Nayi Adam Alhassan; Organiser, Hamza Seidu; Women’s Organiser, Abiba Sayibu; and Youth Organiser,Mohamed Hafiz.

National delegates

The CPP programme, which began in the Upper West Region on Friday, April 17, 2015, will ultimately take the party to its national delegates congress, where national leaders would be elected and preparation made towards the 2016 general election. 

The event was attended by national officers of the party, led by the National Chairman and Leader, Ms Samia Yaba Nkrumah. Others were the General Secretary, Ivor Kobina Greenstreet; National Women’s Organiser, Hajia Hamdatu H. Ibrahim; the party’s 2012 Presidential Candidate, Dr Abu Sakara, and a former National Chairman, Prof. Edmund Delle.

Also in attendance were Lawyer Bright Akwetey, a former presidential aspirant and CPP’s Shadow Attorney General, Elyasu Yussif Baba; the CPP Upper West Regional Chairman and his regional executive members.

Mr Appiah Amankwah, Chairman of the CPP’s National Organising Committee; Mr Koo Mensah Frempong, Greater Accra Regional Organiser and regional executive members from the Upper East Region, Ashanti Region, Volta and other regions were also at the programme.

The newly elected executive members were encouraged to continue strengthening the cell branches in the region and make the party more visible and attractive in the region.

Stand up

Ms Samia Nkrumah told the delegates the CPP was formed for the people. She, therefore, charged members to stand up for Ghanaians on the many issues that concerned them.

She disclosed that CPP was going to court to safeguard the security of Ghana’s food chain, saying the “CPP is the only alternative to the policies of structural adjustment and austerity being offered by the NPP and NDC.”

The CPP Brong Ahafo Regional Conference is next on the programme, scheduled for later this month, to be followed with the Ashanti, Upper East, Central, Western, Eastern, Greater Accra and Volta regional conferences.
