Eastern Region NPP retains Kissi as Chairman
Drumming and dancing by supporters of various candidates set the main campus of the All Nations University (where the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held its regional delegates conference) agog at the weekend.
The incumbent Regional Chairman, Kingston Akomeng Kissi, Secretary, Jeff Konadu, Organiser, Kwame Koduah, Youth Organiser, Jerry Osei Poku, Treasurer, Ben Kumi Larbi, and Deputy Secretary, Yaw Papin, were all returned unopposed.
The election for the tension-packed position, first regional vice chairman, was won by the incumbent Alhaji Umar Bodinga who beat his challenger Michael Oteng Adu by 402 to 240 votes.

Madam Fati Vondolie became the women's organiser with 297 votes; the other two contenders, namely Mercy Amo Darko and Josephine Osafo polled 261 and 64 votes respectively.
Mr Richard Twum Barimah overwhelmingly defeated his two rivals with an emphatic 472 votes as against 140 and 10 votes obtained by James Appietu Ankrah and Seth Okyere for the position of second vice chairman.
Nasara coordinator
Alhaji Hussein Fadilu was elected the Nasara Coordinator polling 241 votes to beat four other contestants.
Swearing in the new executive members, the National Treasurer of the NPP, Mr Abankwah Yeboah, urged the executive to work harder to mobilise and retain the NPP in power in election 2020.
He said the party needed peace and that all grievances must be channelled through the right process.
For his part, the acting General Secretary of the party, Mr John Boadu, urged members of the party not to be complacent.

He commended the outgone executive for ensuring that the Eastern Region voted massively in the last election.
The Regional Chairman, Mr Kissi, thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in them and called for their continuous support and cooperation.
