EC shifts Abetifi by-election to July 16
The Electoral Commission has announced it will now hold the Abetifi by-election in the Eastern Region, on July 16.

It had previously scheduled the by-election for July 19, but according to the head of communications at the EC, Erick Kofi Dzakpasu the change has become necessary to make way for the planned exhibition of the provisional voters register starting on July 18, 2016.
The Abetifi by-election follows the death of the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Peter Wiafe Pepera and is in accordance with Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution.
The Commission received nominations for the election on Tuesday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 22.
The New Patriotic Party MP died on Saturday, May 21 at the age of 62 while on admission at the 37 Military Hospital.
