The provisional register is to enable all aspiring candidates to vet the register and when necessary challenge the eligibility of questionable voters on the register.

At a press conference held at the EC headquarters on Monday, Deputy Chairman at the EC in charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Bossman Asare said the commission was adhering to its timeline for distributing the provisional register.

He clarified that, according to Regulation 22 of CI 31 as amended by CI 126, the commission is required to provide the provisional register to political parties within three months following the end of the registration period.

Dr. Asare explained that the limited registration concluded on May 29, 2024, with a mop-up registration wrapping up on August 3, 2023.

Consequently, the commission is on schedule to deliver the provisional register by the end of August 2024.

He confirmed that the external drives containing the provisional register are now available for collection, noting that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other parties have already retrieved their copies.

The voter register exhibition exercise is set to begin on August 20 and will continue through to   to August 27, 2024, he added.
