Election Petition verdict: Mahama okays security arrangements
President John Dramani Mahama says he is impressed with the security arrangement to ensure law and order in the country after the Supreme Court has given judgement on the election petition.

He also expressed satisfaction with the high morale and level of preparedness of security men and women towards maintaining peace and security after the verdict.
A deputy minister of Information and Media Relations, Mr Felix Ofosu Kwakye, told journalists yesterday at the Flagstaff House in Accra that President Mahama expressed the satisfaction after reviewing the various security arrangements that had been put in place for the purpose.
President Mahama was said to have indicated that as the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, he had the responsibility to maintain peace and security in the country.
Accordingly, the President had held several meetings with security chiefs to review the security arrangement.
Security chiefs were again at the seat of government yesterday to brief the President on the security situation.
The Supreme Court is expected to give its judgement in the election petition that the leadership of the New Patriotic Party had filed challenging the declaration of President Mahama as the winner of the 2012 presidential election.
Mr Ofosu Kwakye said President Mahama had watched the drills of the security men and women in uniform, and was impressed with their level of preparedness and high morale.

President Mahama, according to the deputy minister, urged all to conduct themselves peacefully to sustain the peace in the country after the verdict had been given.
That, he said, was crucial to enhance Ghana's image as a beacon of peace, stability and democracy in West Africa.
He, therefore, affirmed his commitment to sustaining the peace and security in the country.
