Act swiftly to address galamsey issues - Institution of Engineering urges Mahama

The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET-GH), has called for swift action on pressing national issues, particularly the fight against illegal mining (galamsey) and the recovery of public funds lost to corruption by the incoming government.

“There is no room for delay in addressing these critical challenges,” it said in a congratulatory message to President-elect, John Mahama signed by the President of the IET-GH, Henry Kwadwo Boateng.

It said Mr Mahama’s election reflected the trust and confidence Ghanaians had in his leadership and vision for the nation.

It appealed for fair representation of engineering professionals from IET-GH and the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) in Mr Mahama’s administration.

Addressing past challenges in that area, it said would foster inclusivity and professionalism in national development.

“The Institution pledges its support and confidence in your ability to deliver on your promises and revitalise Ghana's economy.

“Congratulations once again. May God grant you wisdom and strength as you lead Ghana toward a brighter future,” the statement, said.
