CPP to endorse Greenstreet as 2024 flag bearer
The Convention People's Party (CPP) will hold a decentralised congress across regional capitals on Saturday, August 24, to endorse Ivor Kobina Greenstreet as the party's flag bearer for the 2024 general election.

The National Communications Director of the CPP, Osei Kofi Acquah, who disclosed this to the Daily Graphic in an interview, said at the close of nominations for the party's presidential slot, it was Mr Greenstreet who had fulfilled all the requirements for the flagbearership position of the party.
He said the congress committee of the party opened nominations for prospective presidential aspirants from August 2 to August 7, 2024.
He said the party fixed the filing fees at GH¢100,000 and the sale of the nominations form at GH¢30,000.

Mr Acquah said at the close of nominations, other party members who picked the nomination forms were Wayo Ghanamantiti, Anokye Frimpong, Bright Akwetey, Mr Greenstreet — all legal practitioners, and Nana Akosua Sarpong Kumakumah, a former CPP Chairperson.
"At the end of the nominations, the only person who had fulfilled all the requirements and had filed was Lawyer Ivor Kobina Greenstreet. So what this means is that only Lawyer Ivor Kobina Greenstreet qualified to the next stage and be vetted," Mr Acquah said.
" And that Mr Greenstreet may be proclaimed as the automatic presidential aspirant for the CPP ahead of the 2024 election because he has fulfilled all the requirements," the CPP national communications director stated.
Mr Greenstreet, a two-time presidential candidate for the CPP, was first elected to lead the CPP in the 2016 general election and was re-elected in 2020.

Parliamentary
Mr Acquah told the Daily Graphic that the party had also opened nominations for parliamentary aspirants, with a filing fee of GH¢15,000 and a nomination form fee of GH¢2,000.
He said the party would be responsible for filing on behalf of its parliamentary aspirants and providing support materials such as posters.
He said the party would hold parliamentary primaries on August 30, 2024, for constituencies with more than one aspirant, while those with only one aspirant will be acclaimed.
The CPP national communications director said the CPP, as part of energising its support base, is embarking on a "bottom-up approach" to reorganise polling stations and electoral areas across the country ahead of the 2024 election.
Mr Acquah emphasised that the CPP was actively preparing for the election, contrary to perceptions that the party is not taking action. " So if anybody is tickling themselves that time is far spent and the CPP is not doing anything, they better think again," he said.
