Dr Ayine will strengthen justice delivery system — Upper East NDC

The Upper East Regional branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed optimism that Dr Akuritinga Ayine will strengthen the country’s justice delivery system.

“As you embark on this significant journey, we have no doubt that you will champion reforms that will strengthen the justice system and enhance accessibility for all,” the party noted.

In a statement issued in Bolgatanga, the party added that with over three decades of experience in the legal profession, "we have no doubt that he will excel when approved as the next Attorney General and Minister of Justice”.

 Contribution

It described Dr Ayine’s appointment as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice-designate as a testament to Dr Ayine’s unwavering dedication and outstanding contributions to the nation.

Dr Ayine, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga East, was among three ministers-designate recently nominated by President Mahama who were vetted by the appointments committee of parliament last Monday. The two others are Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and John Abdulai Jinapor, ministers-designate for Finance and Energy.

“We are confident that your expertise, vision and commitment to justice will bring transformative progress to this critical sector towards the growth and development of the nation,” it said.

The statement further extended gratitude to President Mahama for entrusting the ministry into the capable hands of Dr Ayine, and further prayed for God’s guidance, wisdom and protection as he assumes the noble responsibility.

Dr Ayine is currently in parliament for the fourth term after successfully winning the 2024 parliamentary election in the Bolgatanga East Constituency.

He previously served as the Deputy Attorney-General between 2013 and 2016 under Marrietta Brew during the first term of President Mahama. He holds a PhD in Law from the Stanford University Michigan Law School and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ghana.

An academic, he has also lectured for many years at the University of Ghana Law School.

“The regional executive committee under the leadership of Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba extends its heartfelt congratulations to you on your well-deserved nomination as Minister-Designate for Attorney-General and Minister of Justice,” it said.
